Ironwood Design Group is a landscape architecture and planning firm based in New Hampshire with completed projects throughout New England. The firm was founded on the belief that extraordinary environments can inspire and lift the human spirit. Our dedicated staff of landscape architects, designers, and planners at Ironwood savors the challenge of fusing nature, culture, art, science, economics, and community into each design endeavor. We harmonize the built environment with natural systems elevating this complex relationship to a high design priority.
Ours is a firm for the twenty-first century—adaptive and agile. The Ironwood office maintains a complete suite of industry-standard technology for in-house production of project deliverables, and we invest in the training and research necessary to stay current in that technology. Our technological capabilities afford an efficient work style allowing us to adeptly serve clients and respond to evolving projects demands.
The Ironwood approach to the design process is client-focused. We develop a deep understanding of client objectives and the opportunities and constraints of every project to create innovative implementable design solutions. Projects are conceptualized through open discussions, collaborative workshops, and constructive critiques with clients, consultants, and end-users. TEAM
Mr. Jeffrey Hyland
is the founding and principal landscape architect at Ironwood Design Group, and holds registration in a number of states. He was educated at the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island School of Design, and the American College of London.
With over two decades of professional landscape architecture and site planning experience, Jeff demonstrates valuable understanding through all project phases–conceptual design through to construction and implementation. He has contributed to projects ranging from riverwalk parks and brownfield development sites to athletic fields and character-based zoning regulations.
Jeff established Ironwood Design Group in 2006. In the years prior to that he worked at landscape architecture firms in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
In recent years, Jeff and Ironwood Design Group have pushed the leading edge of green infrastructure, and have been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency for excellence in design and implementation of stormwater management landscape architecture features.
Projects designed by Jeff can be viewed all over New England, illustrating both his practical style and talent for creating distinctive and elegance built spaces.
Savannah Wright
is currently completing her senior thesis to earn a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, New York. She is an Empire State native, born and raised in Rochester.
Her technical skill and creative perspective allow her to effectively lead graphic efforts at the firm. She supports and contributes to projects with her impressive digital renderings, graphic illustrations, and to-scale 3D models.
Her drive, insightful perspective, and generous demeanor are tremendous assets to any collaborative design process.
She enjoys projects in which she can connect with clients to develop work that is functional, innovative, and aesthetically pleasing.
Donna Jensen
is the director of operations at Ironwood Design Group. She was educated at the University of New Hampshire and Boston University School of Medicine.
Prior to joining Ironwood, Donna held a range of professional positions at communication agencies and research organizations. She is an accomplished medical writer and science educator.
When Donna is not keeping the office running smoothly, she works closely with the Ironwood team to produce superlative landscape architecture projects, on-message promotional material, and high-quality proposals and presentations.
