Villages of Sterling Hill
Exeter, NH

Sterling Hill is a 55-plus adult community comprised of eight 4-story residential buildings on a sprawling campus punctuated with two community buildings, two ponds, three miles of walking paths, perennial gardens, and landscape plantings. Construction of the attractive condominium development began over a decade ago with the last few units completed in 2017.

Ironwood was selected by CP Management and the Sterling Hill Board of Directors to assess the existing landscape and prepare a landscape enhancement master plan to include a strategy for making landscape improvements to the campus over several years.

Ironwood collaborated closely with the board and residents to ensure their goals and objectives were fully addressed in the master plan. Of importance was a desire to reduce overall maintenance demands and create a naturalized landscape that minimized the need for mulch, weed control, water for irrigation, and chemical fertilization.

Upon completion, Ironwood prepared designs for new plantings blended with existing plantings. The firm was also hired to supervise phase I (2017) and phase II (2018) landscape enhancement construction projects for three Sterling Hill buildings. The landscape at these locations have now been transformed for residents to enjoy all year long.
