Loon Mountain Bridge
Flood waters generated in the wake of Hurricane Irene resulted in the collapse of structural supports for the Loon Mountain Bridge. After evaluations were conducted, it was determined the entire bridge would need replacement. Ironwood Design Group provided landscape architecture and graphic visualization services for the project as a sub-consultant. In addition to restoring the damaged park and picnic area and repairing pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure at the site, the project required the relocation of a historic locomotive that ran on the Loon Mountain East Branch Line. Associated with the locomotive’s updated site placement was new informational signage and a native wildflower meadow.
