West Peterborough, NH
TIF District Improvement Project
A Tax Increment Finance (TIF) district was created by Town leaders for the purpose of funding utility improvements and streetscape enhancements for Union Street (old route 101) in the village of West Peterborough. The ultimate fiscal goal of this TIF project is to stimulate economic investment. The aims of the project were to improve visual aesthetics and pride in the community; provide a foundation for the greening of village infrastructure; create a traffic calming strategy; and improve pedestrian connectivity. In accordance with citizens’ input during a rigorous context sensitive solutions process, a master plan and detailed construction documents were created for this landmark project. Notable project design elements include: tabled cross walks, educational signage, bioretention treeways, and rain gardens.
